Logan
She’s beautiful. Fierce. Nothing at all like the girl I used to know, which is absolutely terrifying because Danika Winters is the only person outside of that room who knows the truth. She could ruin me, and I’m not talking about my reputation. I couldn’t give two shits about what the kids at St. A’s think. I’m talking major, life altering, jail time ruined.I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her quiet. Even if it means destroying the only person I’ve ever cared about.
Danika
They say when you meet the person you’re supposed to be with, time stops. Your brain takes in every microdetail, committing it all to memory, and you’re hit with this unexplainable need. A need to get to know that person, talk to that person, simply be beside that person. And then there’s the kiss. A fire spreading, earth-shattering, kiss that wipes all others from your memory. I’ve felt that pull towards someone once, and it consumed me. I wasn’t supposed to fall for my middle school best friend. But he wasn’t supposed to break my heart.
***Author note***IHYILY is the first half of a duology. It contains mature subjects including drinking, drug usage, and sex and may be a trigger some people.
An emotion packed, flirty high school romance with hints of bully and enemies to lovers!
Danika Winters has returned to her childhood town in Florida. She’s just had the ride of her life (not a good one) in California and is ready for start fresh. What’s she isn’t ready for his her childhood friend Logan seemingly cold, distant, and out to get her. All the while dealing with her family issues, the resident school mean girl Melody is out for her too. Things have changed since Dani left though, she’s not the timid girl from middle school and is ready to throw down when she needs too.
Logan is hiding a dark secret, one few know. When Logan thinks Dani knows of apart of his tragic past he makes it his mission to scare her into keeping it a secret. As the school year goes on Dani becomes more and more a fixture in his life, bringing up old memories both good and bad. When Logan finally sees his error that Dani has no knowledge of his secret he works to make it right. Sparking them on a romance that causes lots of problems inside and outside of school.
I love you, I hate you part 1 was a slow burn with lots of heat. You can feel Dani and Logan’s attraction from their first interaction even tho it’s hate lust. There were some emotional triggers happening. Thought it made the story so much more compelling, I was dying for Dani and Logan to come out on the winning end. Everything seemed great until that cliffhanger. Honestly it actually irked me a little bit the way both of them Responded. Dani’s was to take off while Logans’s was to be angry and then act like Dani dealing with it alone was no big deal. I understand both of them but it still bothered me. Another thing that I don’t think I got an answer too is why Logan thought Dani knew his secret. It’s the major plot point to him hating her at first and then he kind of just gets over it. But it’s never revealed why he thought she knew in the first place?
Either way, the writing creates a complex and compelling storyline with all the bully, enemies to lovers aspects going on. But the stories within those are real and real for many people. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to start the second part.
