I don’t know what it is with R.S Grey’s writing, but each time she writes a new book I get so sucked in I forget about the real world. And Arrogant Devil was no different. Meredith and Jack are now my all time favorite couple from her books.
Meredith is a city girl, used to living the cushy life until she disappears on her husband leaving with only the clothes on her back. She wants a new life, one she plans to start in Texas, with the help of her distant half sister Helen.
“I even find it all a little hilarious—I escape from hell just to run right into the arms of the devil.”
Jack has no time for games. All work and no play, he’s been named the devil of Cedar Creek. He’s stone cold, having no time for any relationship except his forced grandmother Edith and his dog Alfred.
Until Meredith shows up at Blue Stone Ranch desperate for a job, Jack gives in to her, but with the hope that she’ll be running back to California and out of his hair in a less than a week. Both of them are wrong when they discover an unlikely friendship between them. Meredith sees the truth behind Jack’s tough facade, but will he be able to see pass his assumption of Meredith?
Meredith I’m in love with. I wanted to hug her so many times in this book, and I will admit her situation made me tear up for her at times. I loved that she didn’t let anything set her back. Even when Jack was being the arrogant devil he is.
Jack I loved too. He irked me at first, I wanted to slap him for judging Meredith without knowing her, but he’s been through bs before so I got him. I loved how he grew with Meredith though, his character really opened up and I was swooning & fanning myself for certain scenes..
“Even though I’ve been described as a devil by more than a few people, the name does have one redeeming quality: when you make a deal with me, you know I’ll keep my word, forever.
Between back and forth banter, Jack’s arrogance and Meredith’s resilience, they are fire and water. Their relationship is a constant push and pull which I loved. There isn’t an insta Love factor between them. Definitely chemistry and attraction, but I thought their relationship moved at the perfect pace. It was such a good slow burn. I was literally dying for them to get together, when they did I wasn’t disappointed. It was the perfect mixture of funny, sweet, and HOT. This is my favorite book by the author so far, and if you haven’t met Jack and Meredith yet thennnnn you really need to get to it!!
My Rating: 5 Devily Delicious Stars
Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.
When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.
Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.
Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.
Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.
