The Fortunate Ones is a book about Brooke Davenport who is cabana girl for a country club in Austin. Brooke (like many of the other girls) is infatuated with the sexy James Ashwood, though she hides it well. James is a techie businessman who looks to using his products to help those less fortunate. Brooke does a great job at admiring James from afar until he asks her to have a drink one night at the bar at the club.

Brooke and James know they’re drawn to each other but both of them have different futures in mind. Their differences in a 5 year plan keeps holding Brooke back, confusing herself on what she really wants out of life, now that James has her questioning everything. I give it 4 stars because while I loved Brooke and her sass, her decisions/ emotions were looping in circles which I didn’t enjoy too much. She was a little bit of a roller coaster

Other than that it has a good plot and storyline! Brooke does develop more, though you don’t learn much about James except an ex- girlfriend. But I did enjoy this book, it was a insta-love romance but also had a slow burn aspect to it at the same time so it gives some angst, which made it really interesting. TFO is funny and romantic, I would recommend it!
